Yes. The datasheet states that insertion loss, return loss and ferrule geometry are tested for every fiber. It also lists verification of radius of curvature, tilt and fiber height, and each cable is individually identified by a printed serial number.
FAQ’s
The datasheet specifies a connection insertion loss of 0.1 dB typical and 0.3 dB maximum for the published low-loss configurations. Better performance is stated as available upon custom request.
The ordering structure includes MTP® Female and MTP® Male on side 1. Side 2 options include no connector, SC Duplex, LC Duplex, MTP® Female, MTP® Male and LC Uniboot, depending on the required assembly configuration.
The ordering table lists bend-insensitive OS2 single-mode fiber based on G.657.A2 and OM3, OM4 and OM5 multimode fiber options.
The published configurations include 12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96 and 144 fibers. The exact outside diameter and bending radius depend on the selected fiber count.
MTP® trunk cables reduce the number of individual cable assemblies required in high-density pathways and enable pre-terminated backbone deployment. The Fibernet datasheet states that the STAR MTP® platform provides six times the connector density of LC Duplex connectivity and is designed for limited cable-duct space.
An MTP® trunk cable is a pre-terminated multi-fiber backbone cable assembly that uses MTP® connectors to carry multiple optical fibers between data center distribution points. Fibernet STAR MTP® Trunk Cables support high-density structured cabling with fiber counts from 12 up to 144 fibers.
The MPF2864 is an optional protective panel accessory for the STAR 1U-FX, ordered separately. It shields the front of the frame and its patch cords – useful in shared or high-traffic spaces where the enclosure is exposed.
Yes. The STAR 1U-FX supports bend-insensitive OM3, OM4 and OM5 multimode fibers per IEC 60793-2-10:2019, as well as single-mode G.657.A2 – making it ready for wideband multimode applications such as SWDM.
Short-depth ODFs are used wherever rack depth is constrained: wall-mount cabinets, shallow network racks, office communications rooms, edge sites, retail and branch installations, and telecom closets. The STAR 1U-FX brings data-center-grade fiber density and management to these environments.
Depth. The STAR 1U-FX is only 238 mm (9.37 in.) deep – less than half the depth of the standard STAR 1U (488.8 mm). It uses the same tool-less STAR modules and sliding-tray system, so it brings the same modularity and interchangeability to shallow racks and cabinets where a full-depth ODF simply does not fit.
Choose the STAR 1U (up to 576 fibers) for edge racks where space is critical, the STAR 2U (up to 1,728 fibers) for horizontal distribution areas, and the STAR 4U (up to 3,456 fibers) for main distribution areas and central cross-connects. All three share the same STAR modules, so any mixed deployment stays fully interchangeable.
Total MTP®-MTP® fiber hosting is calculated at 12 fibers per MTP® connector. For example, in the 6 x MTP®-MTP® configuration: 48 modules x 6 connectors x 12 fibers = 3,456 fibers.
The STAR 4U is built for the points where fiber counts concentrate: main distribution areas (MDA), central cross-connects, spine layers and carrier meet-me rooms. Consolidating thousands of fibers into one 4U frame simplifies management, shortens patching distances and frees rack space for active equipment.
The STAR 4U hosts 288 duplex LC ports (576 fibers) in its LC configuration. With 4 x MTP®-MTP® modules it reaches 192 MTP ports (2,304 fibers), and with 6 x MTP®-MTP® modules it scales to 288 MTP ports – 3,456 fibers – across twelve sliding trays in a single 4U enclosure.
Choose the STAR 1U when rack space is critical and up to 576 fibers per unit is sufficient. Choose the STAR 2U when you need higher capacity in one enclosure – up to 1,728 fibers with 24 modules across six trays – such as in main distribution areas, cross-connects and spine layers. Both share the same STAR modules, so a mixed deployment stays fully interchangeable.
The FSTAR-2U ships with the 2U chassis with six extractable trays and a full installation kit: two cable management brackets, one spiral tube, four screws, four washers, and an installation manual. STAR modules, trunk cables and patch cords are ordered separately per your configuration.
A pre-terminated ODF uses factory-terminated and factory-tested fiber modules and trunk cables instead of on-site splicing. Deployment becomes plug-and-play: modules click into the trays, trunks connect at the rear, and links are ready to patch – significantly reducing installation time, labor cost and the risk of field-termination errors.
In its LC configuration, the STAR 2U hosts 144 duplex LC ports (288 fibers) across six sliding trays. With 4 x MTP®-MTP® modules it reaches 1,152 fibers, and with 6 x MTP®-MTP® modules it scales up to 1,728 fibers – all within two rack units.
Yes. All STAR modules are installed and removed tool-lessly through the front or rear access panels, and each tray slides out individually for direct access to ports and patch cords.
Yes. The STAR 1U complies with IEEE 802.3ba (40G/100G) and IEEE P802.3bs (400G), and its modular MTP®/MPO architecture allows migration between speeds by swapping modules — without replacing the chassis or re-cabling the rack.
With LC-MTP® modules, the STAR 1U supports 48 duplex LC ports (96 fibers). In MTP®-MTP® configurations it scales up to 48 MTP ports carrying 576 fibers — all within a single 1U rack unit.
An optical distribution frame (ODF) is a rack-mounted enclosure used to terminate, organize and distribute fiber optic cables in data centers and communications rooms. It provides a structured interface between trunk cables and patch cords, enabling orderly cable management, easy maintenance and scalable growth.
