STAR 4U

High-Density 4U Optical Distribution Frame - 12 Trays, Up to 3,456 Fibers

The Fibernet STAR 4U is the highest-capacity member of the STAR ODF family: a high-density, pre-terminated 4U optical distribution frame built as twelve sliding trays of four STAR modules each – 48 modules in total. In its LC configuration it hosts 288 duplex LC ports (576 fibers), and with 6 x MTP®-MTP® modules it scales up to 3,456 fibers in a single four-rack-unit enclosure. It is designed for data center main distribution areas (MDA), central cross-connects, storage area networks (SAN) and carrier meet-me rooms.

At thousands of fibers per frame, manageability decides everything. The STAR 4U keeps high density serviceable: each of the twelve trays pulls out individually for direct access to ports and patch cords, modules snap in and out tool-lessly through front or rear access panels, and dedicated routing charts on both front and rear panels keep labeling and cable tracing orderly at scale. Modular interconnections provide plug-and-play moves, adds and changes (MACs), and the MTP®/MPO architecture allows migration from 10G to 40G, 100G and 400G up to 1.6T Ethernet by swapping modules – not the chassis.

  • Up to 3,456 fibers in 4U – twelve stacked trays of four modules each deliver the highest capacity in the STAR family, consolidating the fiber plant of an entire distribution area into one enclosure
  • Tool-less modular design – STAR modules are inserted and removed through front or rear access panels without tools, enabling changes in minutes without disturbing adjacent live connections
  • Twelve individually extractable trays – each tray slides out on its own, giving direct access to ports and patch cords even in a fully populated frame
  • Routing charts on front and rear panels – built-in labeling charts make cable routing documentation and tracing straightforward, a critical advantage at thousands of fibers per frame
  • Uni-Boot patch cord support – Uni-Boot patch cords reduce cable volume by up to 50%, easing congestion and improving airflow
  • Built-in cable management – secure mounting and strain relief for trunk cables with 24 trunk mounting positions protect live links from accidental stress
  • Bend-insensitive fiber ready – supports MM OM3/OM4 and SM G.657.A2 bend-insensitive fibers, allowing tight cable routing with no impact on optical performance
  • Seamless speed migration – compliant with IEEE 802.3ba (40G/100G) and IEEE P802.3bs (400G); migrate between speeds by swapping STAR modules, protecting the cabling investment
  • Adjustable mounting brackets – bracket position adapts to different rack depths; optional brackets available for 21″ and 23″ racks
  • UL94 V0 flame-retardant polycarbonate doors – with magnetic closure mechanisms for convenient, efficient opening and closing
  • Dedicated labeling area – integrated space for professional identification of the routing panel
