Choose the STAR 1U when rack space is critical and up to 576 fibers per unit is sufficient. Choose the STAR 2U when you need higher capacity in one enclosure – up to 1,728 fibers with 24 modules across six trays – such as in main distribution areas, cross-connects and spine layers. Both share the same STAR modules, so a mixed deployment stays fully interchangeable.
STAR 2U
Pre-Terminated High-Density 2U Optical Distribution Frame - Up to 1,728 Fibers
The Fibernet STAR 2U ODF is a pre-terminated, high-density 2U optical distribution frame built as six stacked sliding trays of four STAR modules each – 24 modules in total. In its LC configuration it hosts 144 duplex LC ports (288 fibers), and with 6 x MTP®-MTP® modules it scales up to 1,728 fibers in just two rack units. It is designed for data centers, storage area networks (SAN), communications rooms, and high-density enterprise environments.
Pre-terminated, factory-tested connectivity turns fiber deployment from a splicing project into a plug-and-play task: modular interconnections let data center teams manage moves, adds and changes (MACs) smoothly, while the tool-free design significantly reduces installation time and cost. Each of the six trays pulls out individually, keeping every port and patch cord reachable even in fully populated racks – and the modular MTP®/MPO architecture allows migration from 10G to 40G, 100G and 400G up to 1.6T Ethernet by swapping modules, not the chassis.
- Up to 1,728 fibers in 2U – six stacked trays of four modules each concentrate maximum fiber capacity in minimum rack space, reducing the floor space, power and cooling footprint of the fiber plant
- Pre-terminated, plug-and-play architecture – factory-terminated modular interconnections eliminate on-site splicing, significantly reducing installation time and cost
- Tool-less modular design – STAR modules are inserted and removed through front or rear access panels without tools, enabling changes in minutes without disturbing adjacent live connections
- Six individually extractable trays – each tray slides out on its own, giving direct access to ports and patch cords for fast, low-risk MACs
- Uni-Boot patch cord support – Uni-Boot patch cords reduce cable volume by up to 50%, easing congestion and improving airflow
- Built-in cable management – secure mounting and strain relief for trunk cables with 24 trunk mounting positions protect live links from accidental stress
- Bend-insensitive fiber ready – supports MM OM3/OM4 and SM G.657.A2 bend-insensitive fibers, allowing tight cable routing with no impact on optical performance
- Seamless speed migration – compliant with IEEE 802.3ba (40G/100G) and IEEE P802.3bs (400G); migrate between speeds by swapping STAR modules, protecting the cabling investment
- Adjustable mounting brackets – bracket position adapts to different rack depths; optional brackets available for 21″ and 23″ racks
- UL94 V0 flame-retardant polycarbonate doors – with magnetic closure mechanisms for convenient, efficient opening and closing
- Dedicated labeling area – integrated space for professional identification of the routing panel
