The Challenge and the Product Solution

The Challenge

Connect Outdoor IP Devices Through a GPON Fiber Access Link

Outdoor IP cameras and wireless access points need reliable Ethernet connectivity, suitable operating temperatures and local device power. Conventional placement can be constrained by equipment locations and cabling design.

The Product Solution

The Outdoor GPON PoE ONT provides one Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE+ from a GPON optical connection. It supports installations in a standard outlet box and operates over the -30°C to +60°C temperature range documented in the datasheet.

Technical suitability depends on the access topology, endpoint requirements and the supplied manufacturer specification. Review the optical and service design before deployment.

Translate documented technical features into deployment decisions for the teams selecting, installing and operating the optical network.

For Network Designers

Terminate a GPON access connection close to a compatible IP camera or wireless access point with a single Gigabit Ethernet output.

For Installers

Plan wall or outlet-box mounting and remote power from the documented connector format and enclosure dimensions.

For Operators

Evaluate IEEE 1588v2 capability and the management functions listed in the product specification for the intended network.

Interface / Function Documented capability
Optical uplink 1 × GPON, SC/APC single-mode fiber
GPON line rates 2.488 Gbps downstream / 1.244 Gbps upstream
Ethernet 1 × 10/100/1000BASE-T
PoE IEEE 802.3af/at, up to 30 W on the Ethernet port
Power input 30–60 V DC via Phoenix connector
