Fiber Optic Pigtails
Fibernet supplies configurable fiber optic pigtails with single-mode and multimode fiber options, zirconia-ferrule connector interfaces and defined optical verification criteria. Select the configuration that fits the fiber network and termination requirement.
The fiber specification, connector interface and end-face finish must be considered together. A pigtail selected on connector shape alone may not match the intended optical design.
Choose the fiber type, connector, polish and pigtail length from the documented options. Optical and mechanical checks support the specified assembly performance.
The ordering guide supports several fiber and connector combinations. Configure the pigtail around the actual network interface, rather than assuming one connector-and-fiber combination suits every application. Single-Mode and Multimode Ordering options include 9/125, G.657.A2, 50/125, 62.5/125, OM3 and OM4 fiber types. Multiple Connector Interfaces Listed interfaces include LC, SC, FC, ST, MU, E-2000 and LX 0.5, with precision zirconia ferrules. Polish and Length Selection The ordering guide provides Normal, PC, UPC and APC polish codes, with pigtail length specified in centimeters or meters.
Use this as a straightforward handoff between the network design, installation team and supplier. Match single-mode or multimode fiber to the installed link. Identify the port or adapter to be mated at the connectorized end. Confirm the intended finish and the applicable optical interface. Specify a length appropriate for routing to the splice or termination point. Connector choices Documented connector codes cover common optical interfaces. Confirm fiber, connector and polish compatibility for the chosen assembly. Illustrative selection only. Product configurations and availability require confirmation.
Values from the Fibernet Fiber Optic Pigtails datasheet (Rev. 1.0, March 2015). Verify current acceptance conditions before publication or procurement. Parameter Multimode / Zirconia Ferrule Single-Mode / Zirconia Ferrule Insertion loss Typical < 0.1 dB; maximum 0.3 dB Back-reflection values* −20 dB minimum (as listed) −35 dB PC; −55 dB UPC; −65 dB APC (as listed) Connector repeatability Loss increase < 0.1 dB Operating temperature −20°C to +80°C Temperature cycling Insertion loss variation < 0.1 dB; return-loss variation < 5 dB Vibration Insertion loss variation < 0.1 dB; return-loss variation < 5 dB * The source labels these negative values “Return Loss (Back reflection)”. The sign convention and minimum/maximum interpretation require technical confirmation. Values are presented as transcribed rather than being converted into standard positive return-loss notation.
The datasheet identifies optical and mechanical checks used in product verification. This is relevant when specifying assemblies for repeatable terminations and documented acceptance requirements.
Typical use cases for connectorized fiber pigtails include optical distribution and equipment termination. Final suitability depends on the network design and connector/fiber selection. Optical Distribution Frames Connectorized termination points connected to an incoming fiber by a suitable splicing method. FTTx and Telecom Cabling Network termination workflows where the installed fiber must meet a specified connector interface. Optical Equipment Integration Connector-to-splice transitions that require a defined fiber type, polish and assembly length.
