Outdoor FTTx Distribution Box. One Protected Feeder-to-Drop Point

SKU FOTB-16C-R
Outdoor FTTx Distribution Box. One Protected Feeder-to-Drop Point

The Fibernet Outdoor FTTx Distribution Box – 16C_R provides a structured termination point for feeder-to-drop fiber connections, integrating splicing, optional splitter arrangements and cable routing inside an IP65-rated enclosure.

THE INSTALLATION CHALLENGE

A Fiber Distribution Point Has More to Manage Than a Splice.

At the FTTx network edge, feeder and drop cables must terminate in an enclosure that accommodates branching, cable retention and future access.

The 16C_R places those functions in a single enclosed housing: defined entry and exit ports, internal fiber management and space for a suitable splitter configuration where required.

  • Protect the feeder-to-drop connection point.
  • Keep fiber joining and passive distribution in a controlled location.
  • Choose splice-only or adapter-panel construction to suit the installation.

THREE DISTINCT FUNCTIONS

One Enclosure. A Defined Role for Every Fiber.

The design supports the operational steps required at an FTTx feeder-to-drop handoff, without mixing splice, splitter and connector capacity into one number.

01 / FIBER SPLICING

Terminate and join fibers

Organize fiber splices at the distribution point, with a maximum documented splice capacity of 16 cores.

02 / OPTICAL SPLITTING

Plan passive fan-out

Configure the enclosure for up to two 1×8 splitter units or one 1×16 splitter, as specified for the model.

03 / CABLE INTERFACES

Route feeder and drop cables

Dedicated cable clamping and described input/output openings support orderly entry and exit routing.

CHOOSE THE VERSION

Two Ordering Options. One Distribution Architecture.

The difference is the supplied panel arrangement – not an automatically higher splice count.

SPLICE-ONLY

Outdoor Distribution Box

For applications requiring an enclosure dedicated to fiber splicing and internal distribution without the adapter-plate option described for the other variant.

FOTB-16C-R

WITH ADAPTER PLATE

Connector-Access Configuration

Includes an adapter plate. The source lists an optional panel for up to 12 SC adapters; confirm whether adapters themselves are included in the ordered build.

FOTB-16C-R2

*Splitter support and adapter-panel suitability do not establish that splitter modules or pre-populated SC adapters are included with either SKU.

PHYSICAL INSTALLATION

Designed for Accessible Outdoor Fiber Routing.

The enclosure uses an enclosed construction, documented wall mounting, feeder/drop cable clamping and dedicated cable passages.

Ingress protection

IP65 per the supplied datasheet; suitable use should be evaluated against site conditions.

Connection options

Splice-only version or adapter-plate version, selected at the ordering stage.

Splitter layouts

Up to two 1×8 units or one 1×16 unit as listed; verify actual supply and installation clearance.

Working environment

The documented temperature range is -40°C to +70°C.

TECHNICAL DATA

Specifications at a Glance.

All values below are taken from the supplied Rev. 1 datasheet (March 2018). Material identification is held for confirmation and documented in the implementation notes.

Maximum splice capacity 16 cores
Optional SC adapter panel Up to 12 SC adapters
PLC splitter arrangement Up to 2 × 1×8 or 1 × 1×16
Input openings Express port up to 14 mm + 2 × PG13.5
Output ports 16 ports for 2-4.6 mm cables (as listed)
Installation Wall mounted
Enclosure protection IP65
Operating temperature -40°C to +70°C
Relative humidity ≤ 85% at +30°C
Atmospheric pressure 70-106 kPa

Material is labeled “EPDM” in the 2018 source, but its application to the entire housing versus sealing components requires engineering confirmation.
NETWORK APPLICATIONS

Where the 16C_R Fits.

These are relevant use cases inferred from the documented feeder-to-drop, splicing and optical splitting functions; confirm suitability for the actual network architecture.

FTTH / FTTx Access Networks

Feeder-to-drop transition points in fiber access distribution networks.

Passive Optical Splitting

Locations requiring an internal 1×8 or 1×16 splitter arrangement as part of the distribution plan.

Wall-Mounted Fiber Termination
