Fiber Optic Bundle Cables

Fiber Optic Bundle Cables

Fibernet offers multi-fiber bundle cables with selectable fiber counts, cable constructions, connector interfaces and termination options. Define the assembly around your optical connection requirements – not a fixed catalog length.

A construction choice with individually buffered fibers.

In a multi-fiber link, fiber count is only the starting point. Cable construction determines how fibers are organized, while connectors, polish types and breakout lengths define how each end is terminated and accessed. Fibernet's configurable bundle cable options bring these parameters into one defined cable assembly. Specify the full optical path – not just the cable. Select the fiber, construction and interfaces that correspond to your connection plan. Define the two ends before finalizing the cable length and fan-out.

Choose the assembly construction according to the required fiber organization and termination approach. The following formats appear in the product ordering guide. Tight Buffer A construction choice with individually buffered fibers. Loose Tube A loose-tube construction option for the cable assembly. Ribbon Ribbon-style fiber organization within the cable. Breakout Cable A cable arrangement intended for individual fiber terminations.

The ordering structure supports selection at each stage. Use these parameters to prepare an accurate project enquiry. Six decisions. One defined assembly. Specify the cable from core requirements through both ends. One product family. Multiple build combinations. The relevant combination depends on the system-side connectors and the physical path the assembly must follow.

The following values are taken from Fibernet's supplied Fiber Optic Bundle Cables datasheet (Rev. 1.2, December 2015). Confirm the applicable values against the final assembly specification. Parameter Multimode, zirconia ferrule Single-mode, zirconia ferrule Insertion loss, typical < 0.2 dB < 0.2 dB Insertion loss, maximum 0.5 dB 0.3 dB Return loss, minimum* −20 dB −35 dB (PC) / −55 dB (UPC) / −65 dB (APC) Connector repeatability Loss increase < 0.1 dB Operating temperature −20°C to +80°C Temperature cycling Insertion-loss variation < 0.1 dB; return-loss variation < 5 dB Vibration Insertion-loss variation < 0.1 dB; return-loss variation < 5 dB Cable retention > 80 lb (as stated in source) Cable retention, loss variation Insertion-loss variation < 0.1 dB; return-loss variation < 5 dB * The original datasheet records return-loss values with negative signs. The engineering team should verify the reporting convention and acceptance criteria before publication. Values above have not been silently normalized.

Three additional product attributes from the datasheet – without duplicating the optical-performance table. Precision zirconia ferrules Connector ferrules specified for precise mechanical alignment. Documented connector compliance JIC-type and EIA/TIA 604 standards are listed in the product datasheet. RoHS The datasheet identifies the product as RoHS compliant. Fibernet operates according to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, and AS9100D quality management standards.

Common design situations in which multiple optical terminations need to be planned as one assembly. Final suitability depends on your application and installation requirements. Multi-point fiber interconnects When several individually terminated optical connections must be specified together. Defined equipment interfaces When Side 1 and Side 2 require particular connector and polish combinations. Managed fan-out layouts When individual fiber ends need a defined breakout length and installation approach.
