STAR 1U

The Fibernet STAR 1U 144 is a high-density, 1U optical distribution frame (ODF) that delivers up to 144 fiber ports in a single rack unit, using tool-less, modular MTP®/MPO-to-LC cassettes. It is designed for data centers, storage area networks (SAN), communications rooms, and high-density enterprise environments where rack space is at a premium.

Every migration to 40G, 100G and 400G multiplies the number of fibers entering the rack — while rack space, power and cooling stay fixed. The STAR 1U answers this with maximum fiber capacity per rack unit, without sacrificing accessibility: individually sliding trays and front/rear tool-less panels keep every port and patch cord reachable, even in fully populated racks. Modules snap in and out for plug-and-play moves, adds and changes (MACs), and the modular MTP®/MPO architecture allows migration between Ethernet speeds by swapping modules — not the chassis.

The optical distribution frame shall be a high-density, modular 1U enclosure for data center structured cabling. The ODF shall meet the following requirements:

  • Shall provide a 1U form factor compliant with the EIA-310 standard for 19″ racks, panels and associated equipment
  • Shall provide two individually extractable trays allowing direct access to ports and patch cords
  • Shall support up to 48 duplex LC ports (96 fibers) using LC-MTP® modules
  • Shall support up to 32 MTP® ports (384 fibers) in a 4 x MTP®-MTP® module configuration
  • Shall support up to 48 MTP® ports (576 fibers) in a 6 x MTP®-MTP® module configuration
  • Shall allow tool-less installation and removal of modules through front or rear access panels
  • Shall provide built-in cable management with secure mounting and strain relief of trunk cables
  • Shall provide 12 trunk cable mounting positions
  • Shall support bend-insensitive fibers: MM OM3 per IEC 60793-2-10 type A1a.2, MM OM4 per IEC 60793-2-10 type A1a.3, and SM per ITU-T G.657.A2
  • Shall provide low insertion loss enabling the structured cabling architecture required in TIA-942
